Javier Hidalgo, La Caixa Business Director in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, Passes Away

The well‑known banking professional, beloved on the island, died at 55 years old after battling a degenerative disease.

Lanzarote awoke today to the sad news of Javier Hidalgo’s death. He served as director of La Caixa Enterprises for both Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

Married to Lanzarote native Isabel Negrín, the friendly and approachable Andalusian quickly won the affection of the local community with his cheerful nature and constant smile.

“He wasn’t just a good person; he always had a smile on his face,” recalled some of his friends to Lancelot Digital.

Hidalgo was the father of a daughter, María, and a devoted husband to Isabel. He was a distinguished banking professional, dedicating much of his life to the sector. A few months ago he was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a disease that unfortunately progressed rapidly.

Lanzarote and Fuerteventura lose a highly cherished figure, remembered both for his professional contributions and his human qualities. Lancelot Digital extends its deepest condolences to his family and friends in this irreparable loss.
