La Lajita CAE Project Draft Goes to Tender

“The La Lajita Specialized Care Center (CAE) is becoming a reality for Fuerteventura,” announces the Majorera Assembly – Canary Coalition Fuerteventura, after learning that the Canary Health Service, under the Health Department of the Government of the Canary Islands, has issued a tender for the Project Drafting Service for the construction of the new Specialized Care Center (CAE) of La Lajita.

The base budget of this tender amounts to €467,200.97, and the deadline for submitting offers ends on 19 January 2026. This fulfills the commitment made by regional health minister Esther Monzón during the last Health Commission in the Parliament of the Canary Islands.

“This event constitutes a historic milestone for the island.”

The project, and subsequently the construction, will represent a significant advance for Fuerteventura, especially for the population of the southern part of the island “that has been demanding proper health infrastructure in the area for decades.”

AM‑CC recalls that during the previous legislature the project suffered continuous neglect, “falling into oblivion amid excuses and apologies.” However, today the party states:

“We can say that we are at the starting gun for the construction of the future southern hospital.”

The nationalist formation notes that accelerating the completion of this infrastructure was a priority for this legislature. Therefore, the tender for the drafting of the CAE before the end of the year is a fundamental step, as it will allow continued progress on the development of this infrastructure throughout 2026.

The team of the Majorera Assembly – Canary Coalition Fuerteventura highlighted the joint work between the Government of the Canary Islands, the Fuerteventura Island Council, and the Pájara City Council, and consider that:

“It has been decisive for us to be one step closer to having the future CAE.”

In this regard, they emphasize the work of the deputy mayor of Pájara, Alexis Alonso, for making the land available after the paralysis suffered during the Pact of the Flowers. They also underline the perseverance of the president of the Fuerteventura Island Council, Lola García, as well as the constant work of the Island Director of the Health Area of Fuerteventura, Tomás Pérez. All this, combined with the repeated demands of AM‑CC deputies in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, has led to:

“This project is now on the verge of becoming reality.”
