La Oliva details renovation of 99 homes in Corralejo’s historic center

The municipality of La Oliva, together with the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, has held a series of meetings with residents of Corralejo’s Old Town to present the Neighbourhood‑Level Housing Rehabilitation Assistance Programme. The initiative, part of the EU‑funded Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (Next Generation EU), will refurbish 99 residential units and carry out urban‑environment improvements in the historic centre.

  • Total budget: over €2.5 million
  • Funding sources: State funds, the La Oliva City Council, and the Island Cabildo – no cost to property owners
  • Energy goal: reduce non‑renewable energy consumption in the renovated buildings by 60 %, promoting energy efficiency and sustainability

“This programme will benefit not only the participating residents, who will see their façades improved, but also the overall appearance of the Old Town,” said Mayor Isaí Blanco.

“From the Cabildo we will continue working so that this coordination can be extended to the rest of the municipalities,” added Cabildo President Lola García.

“The European Funds Office makes it possible to launch projects that would otherwise be unattainable,” highlighted Finance Councilor Juan José Rodríguez.

“The ERRP will benefit all participants and represent a step forward in improving the quality of existing housing,” noted Deputy Mayor Julio Santana.

Service hours for residents: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 09:00 – 14:00, at the Corralejo Town Hall office.
