La Oliva launches a spot promoting tradition and heritage preservation
The municipal council appeals to citizen awareness by tapping into emotions to highlight the inherited wealth of the past, and sends the message that protecting local identity and history is everyone’s responsibility, especially after recent vandalism of historic buildings.
The Ayuntamiento de La Oliva has launched an awareness campaign under the slogan “What is ours cannot be replaced, it must be protected.” The initiative, driven by the Department of Historical Heritage led by David Hernández, is being promoted through a short video that showcases the municipality’s rich legacy and delivers a direct call to residents: safeguarding the community’s identity and history is a collective duty.
According to the council, several historic buildings in recent years have suffered vandalism. These attacks not only threaten the physical preservation of the structures but also endanger the collective memory attached to them.
“Our identity and our past live on in the walls of these buildings, which have endured despite the passage of time. It is the responsibility of everyone to care for these structures that tell the story of our ancestors, our customs, and our traditions,” said Mayor Isaí Blanco.
The Heritage Councilor, David Hernández, emphasized the educational dimension of the campaign:
“Teaching respect is the key to strengthening awareness about caring for our heritage. This campaign aims precisely at that—reminding us of the importance of our past inheritance and involving society in protecting what belongs to us.”
