La Oliva reviews investments in 125 public housing units and parking in Corralejo

The La Oliva City Council has reviewed plans to build 125 public homes in Corralejo – 77 on Palangre Street managed by the Canary Islands Housing Institute (ICAVI) and 48 in Panorama Tres Islas through VISOCAN – and confirmed a new modular parking facility next to the Bus Station, funded with €1 million from the regional government.

Public‑Housing Projects

  • 77 apartments on Palangre Street (ICAVI) – an investment of roughly €10.5 million, which also includes on‑site garage spaces.
  • 48 apartments in Panorama Tres Islas (VISOCAN) – will be offered under a social‑rental with rents capped at no more than 20 % of the IPREM. The aim is to guarantee decent housing for young people and workers in need.
  • The municipal plenary initially approved the allocation of 6,387 m² to VISOCAN on 26 September 2024.

“We are aware of the island’s rental prices. With these projects we are taking a first step to improve the situation in the municipality,” said Mayor Isaí Blanco.

“Our goal is to make La Oliva a safe and affordable place where every family has a roof over its head,” added First Deputy Julio Santana.

Parking in Corralejo

The council also announced improvements to parking in the northern part of the municipality:

  • Two new parking zones will be created:
    1. A modular lot next to the Bus Station.
    2. A lot on Palangre Street, where the former CAAF facility stood.

These measures are intended to address demographic pressure, enhance access to decent housing, and increase parking availability in the north of Corralejo.
