La Oliva Showcases Local Product at San Sebastián Gastronomika Fair 2025

The municipality of La Oliva is taking part in the San Sebastián Gastronomika Fair 2025, one of the flagship events on the national culinary calendar. The initiative, driven by the Tourism Department headed by David Fajardo, is supported by the Cabildo of Fuerteventura through its Culture Ministry and aims to showcase the town’s local products.

According to the council, the proposal continues the tourism‑promotion line launched at Fitur 2025, focusing on the valorisation of the “majorero” product as a complement to the island’s sun‑and‑beach tourism. This year, chef Borja Cabrera Rodríguez represents La Oliva’s cuisine with a demonstration built around zero‑kilometre ingredients and re‑interpreted traditional preparations.

The mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, said the goal is to “continue working on promoting the municipality in favour of quality tourism for the island,” adding that “gastronomy is part of the local identity and a factor capable of attracting a more conscious and respectful visitor.”

Tourism councilor David Fajardo noted that the fair “puts the spotlight on one of the municipality’s riches: its gastronomy.” He added, “Beyond the sun‑and‑beach model, La Oliva also seeks to position itself as a reference gastronomic destination.”

Primary‑sector councilor Rubén González explained that the presence at the fair “allows us to showcase the work of local farmers, fishers and livestock breeders, who provide the ingredients that form the basis of majorero cuisine.”

Products presented at the fair included:

  • Tindaya cheeses
  • Conatvs wines
  • Aguaguanche liqueurs and gins
  • Gofio balls with white chocolate
  • Mini black‑pig burgers with quince aioli

The town hall believes that this participation enhances La Oliva’s external projection as a municipality linked to gastronomy and local production, according to an official statement.
