La Oliva Takes Center Stage at Madrid Fusión 2026
The northern municipality bets on the promotion of local product and Majorero gastronomic talent
Last Monday, January 26, the City Council of La Oliva attended Madrid Fusión to accompany chef Borja Cabrera of Restaurant El Horno, with the aim of showcasing the richness of local gastronomy on a top‑level platform. The official delegation included Mayor Isai Blanco Marrero and Commerce Councilor Alexandra Martín, who backed the initiative as a clear commitment to local identity and the economy.
During his participation, Borja Cabrera presented a culinary proposal based on the traditional flavors of Fuerteventura, reinterpreted from a contemporary perspective. The menu consisted of:
- a warm gofio appetizer,
- a main course of Majorera goat stew, and
- a gofio foam dessert,
highlighting emblematic island products.
“Supporting our restaurants and chefs is boosting local economic development. El Horno is an example of how traditional cuisine can evolve without losing its essence, bringing the flavors of La Oliva to a national and international audience.” – Mayor Isai Blanco
“Gastronomy is a key tool for promoting tourism in Fuerteventura. Being present at events of this magnitude allows us to position our local products, such as Majorera goat and gofio, and reinforce the island’s image as a quality gastronomic destination.” – Councilor Marlene Figueroa
“La Oliva’s presence at Madrid Fusión is a unique opportunity to showcase our gastronomy and the high level of professionals we have in the municipality. Betting on Borja Cabrera and a representative restaurant like El Horno means betting on our traditions and on the young Majorero talent.” – Commerce Councilor Alexandra Martín
With this participation in Madrid Fusión 2026, the City Council of La Oliva and the Tourism Board reaffirm their commitment to promoting local gastronomy, zero‑kilometer products, and supporting young talent as the municipality’s hallmark.
