Macaco Leads the Rosario Festivities Poster
The countdown has begun for the capital’s most anticipated celebrations. The festivities will open with the inaugural speech of the Ramón Castañeyra Memorial and will conclude beyond Puerto del Rosario with the Puerto Lajas celebrations in October.
The Puerto del Rosario City Council unveiled the 2025 program for the Fiestas en Honor a Nuestra Señora del Rosario (downloadable here). The schedule was presented at a press conference attended by Mayor David de Vera, Councilor for Festivities Tacoremi Gutiérrez, and Janey Castañeyra on behalf of the MERACAS Sports and Recreation Group, the organizers of this year’s opening proclamation.
Macaco on October 6 – A Festival of “Tradition, Feeling and Participation”
“These festivals are much more than a calendar of events; they are tradition, feeling, and participation. Every year, sports clubs, associations and community groups rally together so that Puerto del Rosario can enjoy patronal celebrations worthy of its people.” – Mayor David de Vera
“The programme reflects a joint effort. On September 21 we kick off with the MERACAS proclamation, a collective that embodies our recent history and the spirit of unity and coexistence. The schedule includes the Ramón Castañeyra Memorial, the offering and procession of Our Lady of the Rosario, and contemporary highlights such as Macaco’s headline concert, the ‘Noche Joven’, the ‘Puerto Tiene Talento’ talent show, the Mosquito Color Fest race, a Children’s Day with discounted attractions, the II Solidarity Walk, and the comedy show ‘Risas en Puerto’ with Omayra Cazorla and Daniel Calero.” – Councilor Tacoremi Gutiérrez
“Our aim is to deliver a proclamation that blends emotion, fun, and a sense of purpose. We invite everyone from the ‘24 Horas’ basketball tradition—now spanning four generations with a fifth beginning—to enjoy the festival’s opening, which will culminate with a performance by the local group Chocolate Sexy.” – Janey Castañeyra, MERACAS representative
