Statement by Jéssica de León
During the event, the president of the Popular Party of Fuerteventura, Jéssica de León, explained that the Golden Seagull represents “a recognition of our affiliates and historic militants, those who stand with the party 365 days a year.” She highlighted the party’s work in the Canary Islands government, citing:
- The best‑ever budgets allocated to Fuerteventura
- Resolution of historic demands such as the opening of the CIFP and the upcoming PAU in the island’s south
- Progress on the north‑south axis project
- An investment of €24 million in tourism infrastructure
PP Ready to Change the Cabildo and the Spanish Government
The gala was attended by regional party leaders, including General Secretary Poli Suárez and Vice‑Secretaries Sonsoles Martín and María Saavedra. Suárez praised the island’s grassroots work and the long‑term contributions that have solidified the party’s presence in Fuerteventura.
“This party is more united, stronger, and more eager than ever to help change the Government of Spain, the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, and the majorero institutions from north to south.” – Poli Suárez
Critique of the Central Government
Regarding the administration led by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Jéssica de León warned that “Spain is being torn apart.” She added:
“We are at a moment when the unity of all Spaniards—what has always united us and what united us during the Transition—is being squandered in the service of seven votes.”
The PP of Fuerteventura used the ceremony not only to honor its veteran members but also to reaffirm its commitment to national unity and to position itself as a catalyst for political change both locally and nationally.
