Matías Peña dismissed as Cabildo councilor

The president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura dismisses councilor Matías Peña after the rupture between AM‑CC and ALxLAN

The president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Lola García, announced on Friday the dismissal of councilor Matías Peña, who headed the Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries department.

The dismissal comes, according to García’s statement, because of

“the line of work”

of Peña in the Agriculture Department, as well as the breakdown of the political agreement previously signed between Asamblea Majorera‑Coalición Canaria (AM‑CC) and Alternativa Local por Antigua (ALxLAN).

Consequently, the delegated responsibilities of the Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries area will now be assumed by councilor Enrique Pérez Brito to

“strengthen the management”

of this department in the primary sector and to ensure

“effective coordination and guarantee the continuity”

of ongoing projects.

The president emphasized her

“commitment to cohesion”

within the governing group, the responsibility in public administration, and the fulfillment of political agreements that

“allow us to keep moving forward for the benefit”

of the island and its citizens.
