Miguel Felipe Rastrero returns €11,000 to Puerto del Rosario's treasury

Miguel Felipe Rastrero, councilor of the Puerto del Rosario City Hall and member of the Mixed Group, announced the return of €11,000 from his municipal allocation to the council’s coffers. The amount corresponds to funds earmarked for the exercise of his duties.

He also disclosed his decision to forgo an additional €14,000 that would have been payable to him until the end of his term.

“The resources should be directed straight to the areas of greatest social need,” Rastrero said. He plans to table a specific motion at the upcoming plenary session to ensure that the money “does not remain in the treasury surplus, but is effectively allocated to Social Services, particularly to support the municipality’s most vulnerable groups.”

Rastrero emphasized that the purpose of this measure is to “ensure public funds reach those who need them most,” highlighting that the City Hall has legal tools to channel resources toward social assistance programmes.

The proposal is framed as a personal commitment, according to Rastrero, “driven by transparency in the use of municipal allocations and the pursuit of greater efficiency in public resource management.”

The initiative will be debated at the next plenary meeting of the capital council.
