Ministry stalls on accepting city’s plot for police station

Municipal sources claim that the offer was made but no one has responded to it.

Following the Spanish Government’s announcement of a €7.5 million investment in a new National Police station in Puerto del Rosario after yesterday’s cabinet meeting, municipal officials in the capital say that, to date, the state government has not taken any steps to accept the plot proposed by the city council.

It is worth recalling that on 12 December, the local government of Puerto del Rosario, led by Mayor David de Vera, was finalising administrative actions to transfer a municipal plot to the State so that the construction of a new police station—sized and equipped to meet the capital’s needs—could proceed.

Since then, letters have been sent to various authorities involved in the project, urging progress on the initiative, but no response has been received to date.

According to the municipality, the transfer of a municipal plot, identified as AD‑052, covering a total area of 2,956 square metres, is currently pending approval by the Ministry of the Interior. The plot is considered “suitable” for housing the new National Police facilities.
