Minor Arrested for Attacking Two Women at Costa Calma Hotels

The Civil Guard of Fuerteventura, as part of Operation Praktiker, arrested a minor suspected of committing two serious assault offences in Costa Calma (Pájara). The victims were two women staying at hotel complexes in the area. The detention took place on 18 July 2025.

Investigation

The inquiry, carried out by the Territorial Judicial Police Unit of Gran Tarajal with support from the Morro Jable Main Station, began after an attack on 23 June 2025. A woman was assaulted inside her hotel room, suffering severe injuries to her head, hands and arms. She was rushed to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura. The incident sparked considerable public alarm, amplified by the victim’s subsequent posts on social media.

Initial steps involved reviewing security‑camera footage and interviewing hotel staff, other guests present on the relevant dates, as well as nearby residents and business employees. Investigators cross‑checked backgrounds and searched for links to similar incidents.

Analysis of the recordings revealed a second incident of the same nature that occurred on 16 December 2024. In that case, another woman was attacked inside her hotel room, also in Costa Calma and close to the first location. Both assaults displayed an identical modus operandi, leading investigators to conclude that the same individual was responsible.

Identification and Arrest

The gathered evidence pointed to a minor whose description matched the suspect. After surveillance and follow‑up, sufficient clues were obtained to request a judicial order from the Juvenile Court of Las Palmas to enter and search the youngster’s home.

On 18 July 2025, with court authorization, officers entered the minor’s residence, seizing clothing allegedly worn during both attacks and several objects possibly linked to the assaults. Mobile devices were also confiscated for forensic analysis.

Judicial Proceedings

The minor was handed over to the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office of Las Palmas and ordered to be admitted to the Tabares Juvenile Center, where he will remain under the applicable judicial measures. This was confirmed in a statement from the Guardia Civil Command of Las Palmas, dated 13 August 2025.
