Missing Man Found Alive in Lanzarote
The disappearance was reported yesterday afternoon, and the individual was located in a landfill in the Argana neighborhood.
During yesterday’s operations, a search team was activated after a missing‑person report in Arrecife. Hours later, the man was found alive in Argana’s landfill.
Based on the information gathered and in coordination with the family, the operation focused primarily on the Argana area and its landfill, extending to other parts of the island such as La Santa, Soo, and El Cuchillo.
To conduct the search, a variety of specialized resources were deployed, including:
- A drone unit
- A K9 (dog) unit
- A high‑angle rescue team
- An ambulance
The intervention concluded around 19:20, when a family member located the missing person in a spot between the Argana landfill and the urban core, near the road.
Following the discovery, EMERLAN immediately sent a sanitary ambulance and two rapid‑intervention vehicles (VIR) to the scene. The responding teams provided initial care, immobilized the individual, and then evacuated him to the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital.
The operation also involved personnel from the Arrecife Local Police, the National Police, the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), and the Consortium of Security and Emergencies, all working in coordinated fashion throughout the response.
