More beaches and more media in the capital's rescue services

Ahead of the summer season, Puerto del Rosario launches a new lifeguard service on its beaches “with broader coverage and better resources.”

Contract Formalization

The Puerto del Rosario City Council has formalized the start of a new contract for surveillance, rescue and lifeguarding on the municipality’s beaches—a key step to guarantee the safety of residents and visitors. The signing ceremony took place on Thursday, 16 April, and the service has been operational on the flagged beaches since the following Friday.

Key Improvements

The contract, awarded to the specialised company PRO‑ACTIVA SERVEIS AQUÀTICS S.L., includes several significant upgrades that directly enhance service quality:

  • Extended surveillance period at Playa Blanca.
  • Increased coverage at Los Molinos beach, expanding from four months of service to eight months to meet historic demand driven by the growing popularity of this natural area.
  • Enhanced technical and human resources, with a larger team of qualified personnel, updated equipment and material assets tailored to the specific characteristics of each coastal zone.

These measures translate into a faster response to incidents and a stronger preventive capacity, making a tangible difference in the everyday safety of the beaches.

Official Statements

“Talking about lifeguarding is talking about protection and public responsibility. This service is essential, and that’s why we have invested in improving its coverage and its means. We want our beaches to be safe spaces for longer periods and with greater guarantees, both for those who live here and for those who visit us.” – David de Vera, Mayor of Puerto del Rosario

“This new contract not only expands the surveillance times, but also introduces important improvements in service quality. We have listened to users and to the professionals themselves, and today we take a step that will be felt in the safety and peace of mind of those who enjoy our beaches.” – Toñi Fdez. Aragón, Councilor for Beaches

Future Outlook

With the rollout of this service, the City Council continues its comprehensive effort to improve the municipality’s coastline, safeguarding not only its natural appeal but also the safety and well‑being of everyone who enjoys it.
