Morocco Aims to Attract 6 Million Tourists in 2026

On the 25th of last month the country welcomed 20 million visitors, its historic peak.

Record‑breaking arrivals in 2025

Morocco recorded 19.8 million international tourists in 2025, about 14 % more than the previous year and a historic high – the first time the nation approached the 20‑million mark. The strategy launched by the government targets 26 million travelers by 2030, according to the specialised tourism magazine Hosteltur.

In 2024, the Maghreb nation far exceeded its expectations, attracting 17.4 million visitors against a forecast of 16 million, as reported by Hosteltur.

Revenue surge

Tourism‑related revenues also grew sharply last year, reaching 124 billion dirhams (≈ €11.55 billion) by the end of November – a 19 % increase over 2024, according to Morocco’s Ministry of Tourism.

“These results reflect the deep transformation of Moroccan tourism, driven by a more competitive, sustainable, and locally‑valued offer,” said Fatim‑Zahra Ammor, Morocco’s Minister of Tourism.

Strategic outlook

The government’s national strategy aims to lift visitor numbers to 26 million by 2030, aligning with the broader goal of delivering a tourism sector that is both economically robust and environmentally responsible.
