Morocco Welcomes 13.5 Million Visitors in Just Eight Months

Airlines are betting on the country and improving air connections with Europe and Asia.

Morocco welcomed 13.5 million tourists by the end of August 2025, a 15 % increase compared with the same period in 2024, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy. This marks the highest figure ever recorded for the first eight months of a year in the kingdom.

Record Summer Figures- 4.6 million visitors arrived between July and August 2025, a 6 % rise over the summer of 2024.

  • The ministry emphasized that the tourism sector continues to show “remarkable dynamism and tangible growth.”

The achievement is even more striking when placed against the global backdrop: worldwide tourism growth is projected to stay below 5 % in 2025, according to the World Tourism Organization.

Strengthened Air Connectivity

surge is largely attributed to improved air links with Europe. Recently, Ryanair announced its withdrawal from several Spanish airports due to high airport fees and praised Morocco’s airports as “more efficient and committed to traffic development.”

“Morocco’s airports are more efficient and committed to traffic development,” Ryanair said.

This endorsement has encouraged the Irish carrier to increase its focus on the Moroccan market.

into Asia

Morocco is also pursuing growth in Asia. The country aims to attract one million Chinese tourists by 2030 through a strategic partnership between the National Tourist Office of Morocco (ONMT) and China Eastern Airlines.

2030 World Cup as a Catalyst

The upcoming 2030 World Cup, the most watched sporting event in history, is further fueling the tourism boom. All eyes are on Morocco, a nation that continues to invest heavily in massive stadium projects and transportation upgrades, including recent improvements to both air and rail infrastructure.
