New Corralejo Health Center Put Up for Tender at €9.3 Million

“This is an essential action that will allow us to serve the demographic growth of the north of the island, as well as the floating population and tourism.”

The works for the Corralejo II Health Center have been placed on a public tender with a base budget of €9,275,540.45 (excluding taxes) and a maximum execution period of 23 months. The deadline for submitting offers is January 29 2026.

The project has long been demanded by the island and already has a specific line in the 2026 budget, as explained during the press conference on Friday, 12 December. Consequently, it is a major step forward that the work has been tendered before the end of the year, bringing it “one step closer” to becoming a reality during the current legislative term.

This initiative demonstrates the firm commitment of the Government of the Canary Islands to improve public health services in Fuerteventura. The need for the center has been a recurring demand from the majorero population, prompting both Lola García, President of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, and Isaí Blanco, Mayor of La Oliva, to repeatedly stress the necessity of building this health center in Corralejo.

The new primary‑care infrastructure will address the significant demographic growth experienced by the northern part of the island in recent years, as well as the floating population and the large, continuous flow of tourists.

Majorero deputies have also highlighted in parliament the importance of undertaking this project with diligence. Accordingly, efforts were made to ensure that the Autonomous Community’s budget for the upcoming year includes a dedicated line for this early‑care facility.

In this context, Mario Cabrera emphasized that “healthcare is a fundamental pillar in the roadmap that Fuerteventura must follow, not only in improving infrastructure but also in continuously enhancing services and bringing them closer to the entire island population.”

The party also praised the work of Tomás Pérez, Island Director of the Health Area in Fuerteventura, for his constant dedication and perseverance, which have enabled many health advances to materialize during the current legislative term.
