The Cabildo organizes a day to prevent bullying on the occasion of International Children’s Rights Day
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through the Island Childhood Service of the Department of Social Action, Diversity, LGTBIQ+, Citizen Participation and Open Government, is organizing the event “Active Strategies to Prevent Bullying in Fuerteventura.” The initiative is carried out in collaboration with OXIA, the company responsible for the diagnosis and the recently approved Island Plan for Childhood and Adolescence.
The event will be held in November at the auditorium of the Island Youth Center in Puerto del Rosario. It is part of the activities planned for International Children’s Rights Day, which is celebrated in mid‑November. Its aim is to provide a formative and community‑based response to a social‑educational reality that directly affects the well‑being and development of children and adolescents on the island.
School bullying, identified as one of the main psychosocial problems in the diagnosis that preceded the new Island Plan, requires strengthening preventive skills and conflict‑management capacities within educational settings.
The day therefore seeks to promote active prevention strategies specially adapted to Fuerteventura’s characteristics—marked by the geographic dispersion of its schools and the need for greater coordination among families, schools, and social services.
“This is another step in the Cabildo’s commitment to guarantee safe and protective environments for our children on the island,” said Lola García, President of the Cabildo.
“Bullying prevention must be approached from an integral perspective that involves the entire educational and social community of Fuerteventura,” added Víctor Alonso, Councillor for Social Action.
