Olivia Stone's Island Vision Highlights the Capital's Stance in Feaga

The Puerto del Rosario City Council will be present with its own pavilion at the 2026 Canary Islands Agricultural, Livestock and Fisheries Fair (FEAGA), which runs until 19 April at the Pozo Negro Farm.

The event—considered the most important gathering for the archipelago’s primary sector—features a unique space that pays tribute to the 1884 visit of British writer Olivia Stone to the historic Puerto de Cabras.

The Puerto del Rosario stand at FEAGA is a design by local artist Dailos Paniagua. Fully painted by Paniagua and built by the municipal services, the pavilion recreates the landscapes and scenes described by Stone in her work “Tenerife and its Six Satellites.”

Stone was enchanted by the rugged beauty of the then‑small municipality, and today her legacy serves as the thread that highlights the town’s flagship products—especially its cheese and superb local wines, which visitors can taste at the stand.

During the inauguration, Mayor David de Vera emphasized the vitality of the primary sector and urged attendees to try and purchase local produce.

“The primary sector of Puerto del Rosario is more alive than ever. FEAGA is a source of pride, and our stand is the best business card: tradition, quality, and a fascinating story to tell. I invite everyone to stop by, taste, and learn about Olivia Stone’s story and that old Puerto de Cabras,” de Vera said.

Primary Sector Councilor David de León highlighted the synergy between historical heritage, art, and local gastronomy.

“There’s no better way to know our land than through its flavor and its history. Olivia Stone was amazed by Fuerteventura; today we want anyone who visits our stand to feel the same sensation when tasting our local products and admiring Dailos Paniagua’s artwork.”
