One of the perpetrators in a robbery attack on a man in Morro Jable arrested

The second suspect fled the island and, although identified, remains missing

The Civil Guard has arrested one of the alleged attackers who assaulted a man with punches and kicks in order to rob him, an incident that took place in Morro Jable. According to a press release from the force, the second assailant has already been identified but is currently at large after leaving the island.

The investigation, completed within a week, began after a foreign resident of the island filed a complaint. He reported that, while heading home after drinking with friends, he was approached by several unknown men.

The alleged attackers struck him from behind, delivering heavy blows with their fists. After the victim fell to the ground, they continued the assault with kicks.

As a result of the attack, the complainant suffered facial injuries, including multiple abrasions and two open wounds that required suturing—eleven stitches on the forehead and six on the right eyebrow.

Because the victim could not recall key details due to alcohol consumption, investigators reconstructed the events and reviewed security footage from a nearby shopping centre.

The video shows the victim entering the premises and, as he attempts to climb a set of stairs, being confronted by two hooded men who beat and shake him until he collapses. Once on the ground, the attackers continued kicking him, stole his bag, removed the wallet, and then fled, leaving the victim on the floor.

The victim later contacted a friend via his mobile phone. The friend arrived, helped him stand, and took him to a medical facility.

To prevent the perpetrators from escaping the island, police conducted raids on nearby establishments to obtain additional footage that could aid the investigation. This effort allowed authorities to reconstruct the suspects’ route both inside and outside the shopping centre, leading to their full identification.

Arrest of One of the Perpetrators

A joint operation involving patrols from the Crime Prevention Area of the Morro Jable Main Police Station culminated in the arrest of one of the suspects; the second individual had already left the island.

The arrested suspect was placed under judicial custody, and the case files were forwarded to the Instruction Section of the Puerto del Rosario Court, which ordered his imprisonment.
