One of the World's Most Powerful Waves Returns

The Quemao wave brings together the global elite of surfing and bodyboarding in tribute to the sport and to David “El Fula” Infante.

The Lanzarote Quemao Class is raising the bar for its 9th edition with a top‑tier lineup that will once again gather some of the most renowned surfers and bodyboarders worldwide. The roster reinforces the event’s prestige and cements El Quemao as an international attraction.

Surf

  • Joan Durú (France) – defending champion of the 8th edition, returning to protect his title.
  • Lucas Chianca (Brazil)
  • Mason Barnes (USA)
  • Noa Deane and Russell Bierke (Australia)
  • Koa Rothman (Hawaii)
  • Natxo González (Basque Country)

Local representation remains strong with the participation of Lanzarote’s own Manuel Lezcano, Makoa Gómez, and José María Cabrera, who will compete alongside the world’s best.

Bodyboard

  • Amaury Lavernhe (Réunion) – reigning champion, back after his victory in the previous edition.
  • Pierre Louis Costes (France)
  • Mike Stewart (Hawaii) – a true legend of world bodyboarding.
  • Tanner McDaniel (Hawaii)
  • Ian Campbell (South Africa)

Canary Islands Representation

A solid local contingent will also take the stage: Armide Soliveres, Willy Luján, Álvaro Padrón, Aitor Ojeda, Ruyman Rey, and Oliver Arbelo. They will face the international elite on one of Europe’s most technical and demanding waves.

The Lanzarote Quemao Class runs on a flexible schedule, using a colour‑coded alert system. The orange alert—signalling the waiting period—is currently active. All up‑to‑date information on this 9th edition, including the full list of competitors, is available on the official website: www.quemaoclass.com.
