Opportunities Fair deepens ties with local businesses in Puerto del Rosario
The fifth edition gathered around 45 businesses on Primero de Mayo Street, offering family‑friendly activities, live music, workshops, vehicle exhibitions and charitable actions in support of the Association Against Metastatic Breast Cancer of Fuerteventura.
Event Overview
The V Opportunities Fair in Puerto del Rosario concluded the weekend with a positive participation balance, turning Primero de Mayo into a vibrant space for local trade, culture, family activities and solidarity.
According to the Puerto del Rosario Business Association, about 45 merchants took part in this edition, presenting promotions, activities and proposals aimed at residents, families and visitors over the two‑day programme.
The fair featured musical performances at several points along the pedestrian street, creative and family‑oriented workshops, car and motorcycle exhibitions, children’s activities, poetry corners and charitable initiatives.
Cultural and Solidarity Highlights
One of the standout elements was the “Tree of Poems,” an initiative that placed poetry at the heart of the fifth edition. The collage‑poetry, cyanotype, artistic face‑painting, photocall, balloon houses and other workshops organized by cultural and social groups were also well received.
The event incorporated a solidary dimension as well. The gastronomy area and the actions linked to the “Tree of Poems” raised funds for the Association Against Metastatic Breast Cancer of Fuerteventura.
Statements from Organizers
“A huge thank you to all the people and entities that have made this fair possible,” said Daniela Plotegher, president of the Puerto del Rosario Business Association. She highlighted “the work and commitment of every member of the association, who have worked intensively for months to bring this fair to life.”
“We also thank the Puerto del Rosario City Council, the Mayor’s Office and all the involved municipal departments for their coordinated collaboration that ensured the event’s success,” Plotegher added. “Our gratitude extends to the Cabildo of Fuerteventura and the Government of the Canary Islands for their support and cooperation in developing the fair.”
The association also praised the participation of the Instituto de Tefía and Ampuyenta, whose students created the poems for the solidarity tree. Appreciation was expressed to the Pejeverde Association for organizing the motor exhibition and to Club GT Fuerteventura for contributing to the vehicle showcase, thereby expanding the event’s activity offering.
“The overwhelming solidarity response from the community has been remarkable,” the president concluded. “All proceeds from the gastronomy area and charitable actions will be donated to the Association Against Metastatic Breast Cancer of Fuerteventura, demonstrating once again that local commerce carries a strong social commitment.”
