The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued an orange warning for temperatures on the island of Fuerteventura this Friday, with forecasts indicating temperatures exceeding 37 °C.
In addition, a yellow warning has been declared for suspended dust (calima), which will particularly affect mid‑elevations and south‑facing peaks.
Day of Concern
- Vulnerable groups such as infants and the elderly are urged to take great care during the extremely hot day.
- Special attention is required for people undertaking the pilgrimage to Vega del Río Palmas from any point on the island.
Residents and visitors should stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and seek shade whenever possible.
