Over 80 Researchers Join the 20th Fuerteventura and Lanzarote Studies Conference

The Palace of Training and Congresses hosts, from September 23 to 26, a cultural and scientific landmark for the Eastern Islands.

Overview

The Studies Conference on Fuerteventura and Lanzarote marks its 40th anniversary and celebrates its twentieth edition at the Palace of Training and Congresses in Fuerteventura. Over four days, more than 80 researchers will present 48 papers covering Geography, History, Art History, Archaeology, and Language‑Literature.

History and Significance

Founded in 1984 at the initiative of the Cabildos of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, the conference was created to fill the scarcity of bibliographic material on the two islands. Today it is regarded as one of the most enduring and fruitful inter‑island collaborations in the archipelago, with 860 studies published to date.

  • Lola García, President of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura
  • Rayco León, Councillor for Historical Heritage
