Over Sixty Young Wrestlers Gather at Feaga 2026 for the Antonio Cano Tournament
The event was organized by the Island Federation of Canarian Wrestling, as part of the “Don’t Forget Our Heritage” program.
More than sixty boys and girls from the Island Schools of Canarian Wrestling took part this Saturday in the Agricultural, Livestock and Fishing Fair (FEAGA). One of the main novelties of this year’s fair was the debut of the Antonio Cano Clavijo Age‑Group Individual Championship, hosted by the Island Federation of Canarian Wrestling.
The competition is part of the activities promoted by the traditional‑sports outreach program “Don’t Forget Our Heritage” of the Sports Department of the Fuerteventura Island Council.
“Within the framework of Feaga, one of the most important regional fairs, traditional games and sports could not be absent. On this occasion, as a new feature, we are holding the Antonio Cano tournament, which the federation has been developing for several years and is now in its fifth edition,” said Sports Councillor Luis González.
The “Don’t Forget Our Heritage” activities run throughout the entire Feaga weekend, featuring demonstrations, workshops, exhibitions and gatherings of traditional sports and games such as the stick game and pelotamano.
