Pájara allocates nearly €40,000 to upgrade football fields
Shaded areas are part of the municipality’s commitment to improvements across various projects
The Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) of Pájara has completed the installation of shade pergolas on the stands of the football fields in Morro Jable and Pájara, a project that cost €39,969.20, the council announced on Friday.
The work consists of placing wooden pergola‑type structures in the stand areas of both football fields, creating new shaded spaces and protection from sun exposure.
The initiative falls within the objectives set by the governing coalition (PSOE‑CC) to continue improving the municipality’s sports facilities and to offer greater comfort to users and spectators.
“We continue working on various new sports‑infrastructure projects in the municipality,” said Alexis Alonso, first deputy mayor and councilor for Urban Planning, referring to projects beyond the one now completed.
“This work responds to a demand that has been expressed for a long time by families, users and the public who attend the football fields each week,” emphasized José Benito Alonso, councilor for Sports.
“These new shaded areas will allow people to enjoy the sports facilities under better conditions.”
“This was one of the commitments made by the governing coalition during the current term, as the installation of shaded areas had been a request we have been receiving for quite some time from the facility’s users,” added Mayor Alejandro Jorge.
