Pájara earmarks €80,000 to draft Esquinzo's urban plan
After receiving the Esquinzo development— the first in the municipality’s history completed without any judicial intervention— the Pájara City Council has earmarked €80,000 for the project’s design and construction management. Future tendering will be required for works that improve access roads, sidewalks, pavements, street lighting, and the water, sewage, storm‑water and telecommunications networks.
Project launch
The Technical Office and Urban Planning Department, led by Alexis Alonso, has begun drafting the project and overseeing the works to refurbish streets and public spaces in Esquinzo. The allocated budget exceeds €80,000, and the work must be completed within a maximum of four months.
Scope and objectives
The initiative stems from the current administration’s urban‑planning agenda, which started with a minor zoning amendment that finally regularised an area that had lacked clear planning for years.
The intervention area includes:
- Public roads and open spaces
- Pedestrian access to the bus stop on the FV‑602 road
The project will:
- Re‑order sidewalks and roadways
- Improve universal accessibility in a terrain with moderate to steep slopes
- Upgrade urban infrastructure such as street lighting, water supply, sewage, storm‑water and telecommunications networks.
Official statements
In a municipal press release, the Technical Office emphasized that the action “moves from planning to implementation, directly addressing the recovery of a historically neglected area with significant deficiencies in its public spaces.”
“In the meeting we held with residents, we committed to put this project out to tender before the end of the year—a commitment we are now fulfilling,” said Mayor Alejandro Jorge.
“This is good news that will provide a solution for Esquinzo’s situation and advance the improvement of the urban core,” the mayor added.
