Pájara renews €15,000 agreement with ecca.edu for adult education

Pájara Council is providing €15,000 for adult education as more learners enrol on secondary courses and new Spanish and literacy classes begin.

Pájara Council has renewed its agreement with ecca.edu to provide €15,000 for adult education and training. The funding will keep courses running across the council area in southern Fuerteventura.

Onda Fuerteventura reported the renewal on 4 November 2026. The agreement helps adults return to education, complete their studies or prepare for work.

Councillor for Training and Employment Lucía Darriba said the aim was to help people who had not finished their studies. They can study close to home, with teaching suited to their needs and personal circumstances.

What education is available?

The number of learners in adult secondary education (ESPA) has risen from 20 last year to 26 at the start of this academic year. This is a rise of 30%.

Enrolment on initial education courses remains stable at 29 people. New Spanish language and literacy classes began this year and already have eight learners. These classes help people build basic language, reading and writing skills. The aim is to help them become more independent in daily life.

Bachillerato is the next stage after secondary education. It remains available in southern Fuerteventura. Four students from Pájara completed this stage and gained their qualification in the previous academic year.

The programme also offers Aula Abierta courses and other training for work. This includes food handling and first aid. The report does not give enrolment dates, class timetables or details on how to apply.
