Pájara seeks a “makeover” for Costa Calma
The crews of “Fuerteventura, beautiful by nature”, at the request of the Pájara City Council, have begun work on 11 zones of the well‑known southern town.
Costa Calma has started to undergo a significant transformation of its pedestrian pathways that connect the upper part of the urban core with the lower part and the coast, via the FV‑2 road, as well as other areas such as parking lots and secondary streets. At the request of the Pájara City Council, the crews of the “Fuerteventura, beautiful by nature” programme are carrying out a “shock action” that will continue over the coming weeks.
The Works and Machinery Service of the Cabildo, through this programme, is implementing an ambitious plan to clean, clear, prune and rehabilitate public spaces in Costa Calma. These actions improve both the tourist image and facilitate pedestrian traffic for residents throughout the town.
To this end, 11 work zones have been established, most arranged radially along the FV‑2 as it passes through Costa Calma, but shock actions are also being undertaken in other public spaces such as secondary streets and parking areas.
The works range from cleaning and tidying spaces such as the new parking lot to clearing, pruning and cleaning the El Palmeral corridors, as well as clearing and cleaning the margins of the FV‑603 road, also in Costa Calma.
In those 11 action points covered by the shock plan, general cleaning and clearing work is foreseen, although minor tree felling may be carried out for safety reasons (excluding palm trees) to achieve maximum visibility within the pedestrian corridors, as well as to improve the road surface.
