PFAE‑GJ Programs “Fuerteventura Cares at Home” and “Fuerteventura Preserves Its Environment” Boost Job Placement Through a Business Forum
The trainee‑workers of the Alternating Training Programs with Youth Guarantee Employment (PFAE‑GJ) “Fuerteventura Cares for You at Home” and “Fuerteventura Preserves Its Environment,” promoted by the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, took part today in a meeting with the island’s business network. The aim was to generate synergies and facilitate their labour insertion once the programmes are completed.
Thirty trainee‑workers from both PFAE‑GJ attended the event together with management teams, coordinators, teaching staff and administrative support personnel. Representatives from six companies and social organisations were also present: the Fuerteventura Chamber of Commerce, Nivaria S.L., AFFA, Adisfuer, Garden Center La Lajita and Gesplan. They shared experiences and explored possible avenues for future collaboration.
The Cabildo’s Employment Promotion Councilor, Nuria Cabrera, opened the session and highlighted the importance of initiatives that bring young talent closer to the realities of the labour market.
“It is essential to coordinate with the Majorcan business fabric and make visible young people who are acquiring highly demanded professional, personal and social competencies, preparing them to join the island’s labour market,” she said.
During the meeting, the trainee‑workers themselves presented the skills and knowledge they have acquired through their training and work experience, emphasizing their readiness to meet current market needs.
Two Programs with Social and Environmental Impact
“Fuerteventura Cares for You at Home” trains 15 young people in professional certifications in the socio‑health sector. They perform care duties for dependent individuals both in social institutions and in private homes, contributing to greater personal autonomy and improved quality of life for those they assist.
“Fuerteventura Preserves Its Environment” enrolls another 15 young people as assistants in nurseries, gardens and horticultural centres, as well as in the maintenance of public green spaces. The programme carries out works and services in locations such as the La Oliva Biological Station and the municipal park “La Tunera” in the municipality of La Oliva.
Both PFAE‑GJ programmes are funded by the Canary Islands Employment Service and co‑financed (85 %) by the European Social Fund Plus 2021‑2027 Programme for the Canary Islands, with additional contributions from the Cabildo of Fuerteventura and the Government of the Canary Islands through the Canary Development Fund (FDCAN).
