Poet and Writer Benjamín Prado Named Herald of the 35th Book Fair
From October 23‑26, the Plaza of the Training and Congress Palace in Fuerteventura will bring together booksellers, publishers and readers for a Book Fair that will be opened by the poet, novelist and essayist, regarded as one of the most interesting authors of his generation.
Benjamín Prado will deliver the inaugural lecture of the 35th edition of the Fuerteventura Book Fair, which will take place from October 23 to 26 in the Plaza of the Training and Congress Palace.
Having participated several times in the Fuerteventura Book Fair and other literary events on the island, Prado will share the opening of the fair with readers, booksellers, writers and publishers on October 23.
Prado is a poet, novelist and essayist, as well as a regular contributor to newspapers, radio and television programs. Considered one of the most compelling voices of his generation, he has amassed numerous awards, including the Premio Hiperión, the International Poetry Prize City of Melilla, the Andalusia Novel Prize, the Generación del 27 award, and the Pop Eye Prize.
With a poetic style close to culturalism, Benjamín Prado is grouped together with authors such as Vicente Gallego, Aurora Luque and Amaia Bautista in the so‑called Generation of ’99. He has also written lyrics for musicians like Joaquín Sabina, Coque Malla, Amaia Montero and Pereza.
Prado will be present at the Book Fair.
The fair’s organization is already preparing a full program that will be announced in the coming weeks. In addition to naming Prado as the opening speaker, the organizers have confirmed a concert by Muerdo on October 24.
The 35th Fuerteventura Book Fair, held from October 23 to 26 in the Plaza of the Training and Congress Palace, will feature book presentations, author meetings, theater, circus and dance performances, as well as concerts and poetry gatherings, making it the island’s cultural hub.
The fair is organized by the Islands Library Center, under the Culture Department of the Fuerteventura Cabildo, with the collaboration of the Canary Islands Institute for Cultural Development of the Government of the Canary Islands.
