Por Fuerteventura chooses Juan Nicolás Cabrera to lead Cabildo election list

The Por Fuerteventura electoral alliance has unanimously chosen Juan Nicolás Cabrera Saavedra to head its list for the next elections to the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, the island council.

The decision was made at a meeting in Morro Jable, in the municipality of Pájara, on 14 October, the alliance said in a statement. Por Fuerteventura brings together Asambleas Municipales de Fuerteventura (AMF), Nueva Canarias and Juntos por Pájara.

Under the agreement between the three parties, AMF was responsible for proposing who would head the island-wide list. It initially put forward two prospective candidates: Cabrera Saavedra and Juan Cabrera Peña. The latter withdrew his candidacy in writing the day before the meeting, leaving Cabrera Saavedra as the only candidate considered.

The alliance said those present heard from Cabrera Peña and representatives of all three parties before unanimously agreeing on Cabrera Saavedra’s selection.
