Port Authority Closes Majorca's Capital Port Due to Storm

Additionally, the port of Arrecife is closed because of southerly winds exceeding 70 km/h.

The Port Authority of Las Palmas, acting on a proposal from the Maritime Captaincy and following a request from the Practitioners Corporation, will shut the ports of Puerto del Rosario and Arrecife due to the severe weather caused by Storm Therese, which will hit the Canary Islands from Wednesday onward.

  • Puerto del Rosario will stay closed from 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20. Winds from the south are expected to exceed 40 knots, making safe sea maneuvers difficult.
  • Arrecife will be closed from 12:00 p.m. on Thursday until midnight, as a yellow alert is in effect for very strong southerly winds.
