Potential scams targeting food establishments in Fuerteventura

Health authorities deny that telephone calls are being made to Fuerteventura establishments to announce closures due to pending sanctions

The Health Area of Fuerteventura, attached to the Health Department of the Government of the Canary Islands, has detected that some food establishments on the island have received phone calls in which individuals falsely identify themselves as Public Health Inspection Technicians (TISP) announcing the closure of those businesses due to alleged pending sanctions.

In response, the Management of the Health Area of Fuerteventura categorically denies that inspection personnel are making such phone calls to island establishments to communicate closure dates or similar requirements, stating that these are fraudulent communications unrelated to the Canary Health Service (SCS).

Therefore, the Health Area advises establishments that, if they receive calls of this nature, they should not provide any personal or administrative information. It also warns that these incidents should be reported to the competent authorities so that appropriate measures can be taken.
