Prosecutors Seek Three-Year Prison Sentence for Habitual Abuse in Fuerteventura
Trial
The trial will be held at the Provincial Court of Las Palmas.
The public prosecutor is requesting a three‑year prison sentence for a man accused of repeatedly abusing his partner in Fuerteventura.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the defendant, who already has prior convictions for gender‑based violence, allegedly assaulted and threatened his partner continuously over several months in 2023 at their home in Puerto del Rosario.
The prosecution argues that the conduct constitutes the crime of habitual maltreatment, aggravated by recidivism. In addition to the prison term, it is seeking a five‑year restraining order prohibiting any contact with the victim, the revocation of the defendant’s firearms licence, and the suspension of his voting rights while he serves his sentence.
