Puerto del Rosario adds new jet ski for sea rescues

The vehicle includes a rigid stretcher that can be attached to its rear for rescuing people in the water, and it joins the municipality’s Fire and Rescue Service to improve response capacity in the coastal environment.

The City Council of Puerto del Rosario has unveiled a new watercraft that will become part of the municipal Fire and Rescue Service, specifically intended for prevention and rescue operations on the water.

The council explained in a press release that the vessel is designed to intervene quickly and effectively in coastal emergencies. It is equipped with a rigid stretcher mounted on the rear, “allowing a safer and more agile evacuation in risky situations.”

This addition reinforces the existing aquatic rescue fleet of the Fire and Rescue Service, expanding the range of boats and resources available for emergency response as well as for the water‑based preventive activities promoted the municipality throughout the year.

“This watercraft is specifically designed for prevention and rescue work on the water, representing a significant step forward in our response capability,” said Mayor David de Vera.

“The new asset integrates into the aquatic rescue fleet of the Fire and Rescue Service and will enable us to act both in real emergencies and in preventive operations along the municipality’s coast, thereby strengthening the safety of residents and visitors.”

The council concluded its statement by framing the acquisition as part of a continuous strategy to equip municipal services with appropriate, specialized resources that match the characteristics of Puerto del Rosario’s coastline and its intensive use, with the aim of protecting people and preserving the natural environment.
