Puerto del Rosario Finalizes Land Transfer for Future El Matorral Health Center

The transferred parcel, owned by the municipality, measures 1,983 m² and is located in Block M‑17 of the El Matorral Industrial Partial Plan, with access from Noria Street.

The Puerto del Rosario City Council has confirmed the free transfer of the municipal land earmarked for the construction of the future El Matorral Health Center, following formal acceptance by the Government of the Canary Islands. The move finalizes the plenary agreement approved on September 29, 2025, and enables progress on a priority health‑care infrastructure for the municipality.

The land is delivered free of charges and exclusively designated for assignment to the Canary Health Service (SCS) for the new health centre.

An Essential Facility for a Growing Area

The future Health Center will strengthen primary care in El Matorral and its surroundings, bringing basic services closer to a population that has grown markedly in recent years. The transfer stipulates that the SCS must allocate the land for this purpose within five years of the agreement’s notification and maintain its health‑care use for at least 30 years, guaranteeing long‑term public service stability.

“Consolidating this transfer means making irreversible a commitment made in September with the residents of El Matorral. From the City Council we are providing the necessary land so the new Health Center becomes a reality as soon as possible, because improving local health care improves the daily lives of our people.”
— David de Vera, Mayor of Puerto del Rosario

“We have driven this file with rigor and priority to offer the Canary Health Service a suitable, well‑located, and legally ready parcel. The Autonomous Community’s acceptance consolidates the transfer and allows us to move toward the project and construction phase.”
— Ana Hernández, Councilor for Urban Planning

Cooperation Between Administrations to Improve Public Services

The formalisation and acceptance of the land transfer reinforce cooperation between the City Council and the Government of the Canary Islands to keep enhancing public services in Puerto del Rosario. With this step, the council reaffirms its commitment to facilitate land and procedures for strategic infrastructures, especially those linked to social welfare and health.

The City Council will continue to work closely with the Autonomous Community to ensure that the project drafting and the start of construction proceed within the planned timelines, responding to the long‑standing demand of El Matorral’s residents.
