Puerto del Rosario Joins Fuerteventura Pink Month Against Cancer with a Month of Awareness and Support Activities
Puerto del Rosario will serve as the main venue for the activities of the Pink Month Fuerteventura Against Cancer, an initiative driven by the Association Against Metastatic Breast Cancer Fuerteventura (ACCMMF) and the FuerteYoga Association. Throughout October, they will run a comprehensive programme of awareness, accompaniment and holistic care for oncology patients and their families.
The calendar includes proposals such as:
- Oncology‑focused yoga
- Art and painting workshops
- Mindfulness sessions
- Movement‑expression activities
- Informational tables at the General Hospital of Fuerteventura
The central event will be the “Giving Voice to Metastatic Cancer” day and panel discussion on Friday, 17 October at the General Hospital, featuring talks by oncologists, nutritionists and psychologists.
Mayor David de Vera: “This month is a reminder that the fight against cancer is not fought alone. Puerto del Rosario wants to be by the side of patients and their families, creating spaces for meeting, listening and real support. Our commitment is firm: a more aware and solidary society is also a stronger society.”
Public Health Councilor Rosa Rodríguez: “The Pink Month invites us to take care of health from a physical, emotional and social perspective. It is essential to stress early detection, but also to promote healthy lifestyle habits and to accompany those going through the oncological process. We want each person to feel they are not alone on this journey.”
The City Council encourages citizens to take part in the activities scheduled from 1 to 29 October across various locations in the municipality and the island. Highlights include an open yoga masterclass on 19 October at Playa de Los Pozos, coinciding with World Breast Cancer Day.
