Puerto del Rosario unveils full Carnival program, Los Musicales 2026
The Puerto del Rosario City Council released this morning the 2026 Carnival program, which will run from February 6 to 22 under the theme “The Musicals,” with a municipal holiday on Tuesday 17. Achipencos, Arretrankos, parades, murgas, fairs, queens, costumes, and, above all, plenty of fun throughout the entire schedule.
Puerto del Rosario is already revving up for its 2026 Carnival, which will be celebrated from February 6 to 22 and will be dedicated this year to the theme “The Musicals.” The programme, presented on Tuesday, preserves the most emblematic events of the capital’s festivities while adding proposals designed for all audiences, with activities spread across different neighbourhoods and municipal spaces.
The official opening will take place on Friday, February 6, with the pregón delivered by the Canary Association of Dance Schools of Fuerteventura (ACED), followed by the traditional Nacimiento de la Sardina, the carnival’s opening gun, and a first musical performance. From that moment, the city will become a large open‑air stage for more than two weeks.
One of the highlights is the XXVI Achipencos Regatta, a signature of Puerto del Rosario’s Carnival, which will fill the bay with wit and humour on Sunday, February 15. The same day will host the Daytime Carnival on the maritime avenue, featuring a wide lineup of orchestras, artists and DJs.
The calendar also retains consolidated events such as the Arretrankos Race, the Island Meeting of Children’s Murgas, the Island Murga Competition, the Sambódromo da Ilha, the Grand Parade, and the Burial of the Sardine. In addition, there will be galas for the Children’s Queen, Adult Queen, Grand Lady, and the Grand Drag Gala, which will close the festivities on Sunday, February 22.
Decentralised activities under the slogan “Musical Carnival in Your Town or Neighbourhood” will include workshops, contests and performances in various municipal districts, as well as school parades and special gatherings dedicated to dance and seniors.
The Festivities Department has once again crafted a participatory Carnival, packed with daily events that are family‑friendly and diverse, giving space to traditional carnival customs, musical and comedic shows, and, of course, public celebrations.
