Ramiterra auctions Las Salinas golf course and about 80 urban parcels to fund its liquidation
The real‑estate company Ramiterra S.L., developer of the Salinas Golf Resort in Fuerteventura, has put all its assets up for auction in order to complete its liquidation after more than a decade in bankruptcy proceedings. The assets include the golf course, the desalination plant that supplies the resort, and roughly 80 urban plots located in the coastal development of the municipality of Antigua.
The auctions, organized by Trademat, will be carried out in stages via the website www.subastastrademat.com, with closing dates ranging from October 31 to November 29, depending on the lot.
The Salinas Golf Resort was conceived in the early 2000s as a luxury seaside residential complex featuring a golf course and exclusive homes. The 2008 real‑estate crisis, however, halted the project: sales stopped, construction remained unfinished, and the developer declared bankruptcy in 2012.
In July 2024, after residents complained about the area’s abandonment, the Antigua City Council announced the forced execution of the Partial Plan of Las Salinas, taking over the completion of urban works and the management of public services.
Now, the 79 individual plots are being auctioned separately to facilitate investment, while the final lot to be opened is the productive unit of the golf course, which covers more than 463,000 m² and includes the desalination plant and the adjoining tourist facility.
Increase in Bankruptcies in the Canary Islands
The economic context has not been neutral to this operation. According to data from the College of Registrars of Spain, bankruptcy proceedings in the Canary Islands rose by 49.6 % in the first half of 2025, reaching 1,451 cases compared with 970 the previous year.
Nevertheless, corporate bankruptcies moderated on the islands, with 51 filings—a 10.5 % decrease compared with the same period in 2024.
“Entering bankruptcy often allows companies to set up restructuring plans and financially slim down so they can become profitable again,” explained Luis María Arnaiz, director and co‑founder of Subastas Trademat.
Trademat, a Burgos‑based firm specializing in bankruptcy liquidations since 2008, has become a benchmark for selling assets from insolvency proceedings, streamlining processes and providing transparency for both companies and judicial administrators.
