Regional Police Boost Security in Caleta de Fuste

The Canary Islands Government confirms the deployment of officers who will work in coordination with the Antigua Local Police to intensify surveillance in the tourist locality.

The Antigua City Council announced on Friday, August 22, that officers from the Autonomous Police will be sent to the municipality to strengthen security measures, especially in the tourist area of Caleta de Fuste. The move responds to a request made to the Canary Islands Government and its Directorate General of Security.

Mayor Matías Peña explained that the appeal was addressed directly to the President of the regional executive, Fernando Clavijo, and was acted upon by the Director General of Security, David del Pino, who confirmed the immediate dispatch of personnel.

The Autonomous Police officers will cooperate with the Antigua Local Police to bolster preventive services, control, and overall safety throughout the municipality and at strategic points in Caleta de Fuste.

“Cooperation between the different administrations is always necessary, and we are grateful that they have responded to our request to reinforce our security devices by sending several Autonomous Police officers,” the mayor said. He added that the additional personnel will help increase shifts, services, and surveillance in the most critical locations, ensuring a visible and effective presence.
