Rescue Boat Izar Saves Over 50 People Adrift Off Fuerteventura

Immigrants taken to Gran Tarajal dock

A rubber‑inflated boat carrying over 50 migrants was rescued this afternoon by the patrol vessel Salvamar Izar. The rescued individuals are now being taken to the Gran Tarajal dock (approximately 20:56 hours). Their condition is still being assessed, but all indications suggest that those already aboard the Salvamar are in good health.

The vessel was intercepted in open sea about 20 nautical miles east of the island of La Mayor. Authorities believe the migrants had set sail from an area near the town of Tarfaya.
