Rio Cabras Ravine Reclaims Its Spot

“Fuerteventura, Beautiful by Nature” Carries Out Pruning, Cleaning and Clearing in the Tesjuate Area

The Cabildo de Fuerteventura is carrying out cleaning, pruning and clearing work around the town of Tesjuate (Puerto del Rosario), specifically in the Rio Cabras Ravine, with the aim of restoring and maintaining the area in optimal condition.

The operation is part of the “Fuerteventura, Beautiful by Nature” programme, a island‑wide initiative funded with more than four million euros that “directly impacts the conservation of natural environments, heritage and urban elements.”

“Directly impacting the conservation of natural environments, heritage and urban elements.” – Lola García, President of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura

President García highlighted that the work was requested by the Neighbourhood Association “El Castillejo” of Tesjuate and has been incorporated into the programme, which is managed by the Service of Works and Machinery. The municipality of Puerto del Rosario is also collaborating on the project.

Councilor David de León, responsible for Municipal Services, Towns and Neighborhoods, accompanied García during her site visit.

Councilor of Works and Machinery Blas Acosta explained that the programme “allows us to schedule actions with flexibility and agility, thus giving a better response to the demands of citizens and municipalities.”

These coordinated efforts aim to preserve the ravine’s natural beauty while ensuring it remains a safe and attractive space for the local community.
