Salvamar Izar rescues drifting vessel east of Fuerteventura

An inflatable boat with an undetermined number of migrants on board is in distress.

Maritime rescue services are working to save a group of migrants who are drifting in open sea at a location currently marked by the Sasemar 103 aircraft.

The vessel, which is believed to have left an area near El Aium, is located about 40 miles east of Fuerteventura.

As of 20:50 on Tuesday afternoon, the Salvamar Izar is en route to the rescue point. (Further updates will follow.)
