Sareb to Offer 248 Affordable Rental Homes in Fuerteventura
All of the units will be transferred to the SEPE (Public Employment Service), with 111 of them located in Puerto del Rosario.
Government approval
The Council of Ministers has given the green light to the contract for the management and maintenance of the 40,000 homes that the Public Business Entity for Land (Sepes) will receive from Sareb. The tender will include “anti‑fund” clauses.
The ministry, led by Isabel Rodríguez, will put out to tender the contracts for managing the various housing lots that will be made available to citizens as affordable rentals. The contracts will require that awardees be companies with prior experience in affordable or social housing, aiming to prevent firms backed by large investment funds from winning the bids.
What the tender means
This step follows the July approval of the progressive transfer of a total of 40,000 homes and 2,400 plots—with the capacity to build 55,000 additional units—from Sareb to Sepes. The assets will later feed the new public housing company the government is establishing.
