Sato Levante to Build Most of the Majorero Dock in Las Palmas

According to sources from the port authority in Fuerteventura, the necessary materials are not available for the platform to produce the caissons locally.

The bulk of the expansion of Puerto del Rosario’s dock will be built in Las Palmas, meaning that the majority of the economic activity generated by the capital’s dock‑expansion project will flow to companies in Gran Canaria.

Canarias 7 reports that Sato Levante, “the largest platform for manufacturing these blocks built with Spanish technology,” will produce the concrete blocks for the expansion of Fuerteventura’s capital port, but the work will take place in Gran Canaria.

In this arrangement, 60 % of the €40 million budget—approximately €24 million—will benefit Gran Canaria businesses, which, according to the same sources, are equipped to supply the specific concrete required for the project and to address the lack of a berthing line at Puerto del Rosario’s dock.

The remaining 40 % of the commercial port expansion will be carried out in Fuerteventura, encompassing the production of the blocks, the concrete for the reinforced‑concrete breakwater, the filling of the cells, the mooring lines, and the walkways, as detailed by the Port Authority of Las Palmas and reported by Catalina García in Canarias 7.
