Serious condition after drowning in Cofete

A 60‑year‑old man was airlifted by a medical helicopter to the Hospital Nuestra Señora de la Peña after suffering a near‑fatal drowning on Cofete beach on Monday afternoon.

According to the 112 emergency report, at approximately 16:09 a man estimated to be around 60 years old was rescued from the sea showing clear signs of drowning. The emergency services immediately deployed the necessary resources.

SUC (Servicio de Urgencias y Coordinación) personnel attended to the victim, stabilized his condition, and then transferred him by medical helicopter to the island’s General Hospital.
