Official Comments

“This is the largest road public work ever tendered in Fuerteventura, a historically demanded infrastructure that, after fulfilling all technical, administrative and environmental requirements, is now ready to move forward to execution,” said Councillor Pablo Rodríguez.

He added that the Airport‑Pozo Negro section will not only boost connectivity and mobility but also generate economic activity and employment on the island.

The project received technical approval in September 2025, and the contracting process was launched in December.

During the planning phase, construction solutions aimed at minimizing environmental impact were incorporated, notably the first twin‑tube tunnel on Fuerteventura, designed to preserve natural habitats and protect sensitive species such as the hubara (a native lizard).
