Soria 9 Regiment Offers Tribute to the Virgin of the Peña After

Colonel Zaragoza, Regiment Commander, Thanks the Virgin of La Peña for Her Guidance and Protection During the Six‑Month Mission

The soldiers of the Soria 9 Regiment returned to Betancuria after completing their six‑month humanitarian mission in Lebanon, extinguishing the candle they had lit before departure in honor of the Virgin of La Peña.

“We are grateful to the Virgin of La Peña for her accompaniment and protection during these six months of mission, in which, despite facing some complex situations, all personnel returned home safe and sound,” said Colonel Zaragoza, commander of the regiment.

He also expressed gratitude to the Betancuria City Council and the Island Directorate of the State Administration for their support and presence both at the time of departure and now upon the troops’ return.

Mayor Enrique Cerdeña Méndez of Betancuria congratulated the soldiers on their humanitarian work, adding that it “represents a source of pride for the municipality of Betancuria, for the Virgin of La Peña, and for all Spaniards in general.”
